FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS

The Boy Scouts of America has committed itself to fighting hunger across the nation.  Each month Pack 61 collects donations for the Flemington Area Food Pantry as one of our community service projects. There are many families, children, and elderly members of our community that rely on the Food Pantry for meals.  Children in our community represent approximately 43% of the Food Pantry's clients.

Please remember to bring at least one food item for each Cub Scout and parent attending the monthly pack meeting. You are always welcome to bring more.

The Food Pantry is always in need of the following items: pasta, rice, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, tomato sauces, baby food, diapers & wipes, paper products and other non-perishable food items. When you're shopping for groceries, please remember to pick up a few extra items for the Food Pantry!

WELCOME TO CUB PACK 61!

Pack 61 is the oldest Cub Scout pack in Hunterdon County, NJ. We are in our 58th year of Cub Scouting and are sponsored by American Legion Post 159 in Flemington. We have an active program of age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities and meetings. We serve Cub Scout-age boys from all four of the elementary schools in our area.

The pack generally meets on the 4th Thursday of each month unless it’s a holiday. We ususally meet at the American Legion Post on Rte. 31, just north of Church St. At each monthly meeting we recognize the work and achievement of our Cubs as they progress through the many achievement and elective requirements in the program.

Pack 61 is a family friendly cub pack. We encourage families to attend the pack meetings together and to participate in many of our activities as a family. Cub Scouting provides wonderful opportunities for cubs and their families to share experiences, work together, and have fun.

Please join us on a great adventure called "Scouting."

PACK 61 HISTORY

In 1949 several Scouters and community leaders in Flemington decided there should be a Cub Scout Pack in town. They met to organize and found they were missing only one leader, the Cubmaster. They asked a young printer named Doug Niece if he would be interested. Mr. Niece signed the application and has been Cubmaster of Pack 61 ever since!. We are sure this makes Mr. Niece the longest-serving Cubmaster in the United States.

Over the years thousands of young men have participated in Cub Pack 61. Some have gone on to earn the prestigious Eagle Scout award, others have been given Heroism or Honor Medals for saving a life, and some have even returned as Cub Scout Leaders with their own boys.

Please take a moment to say "Thank you" to Mr. Niece for his many years of dedicated service to the young men of our community.
